Suddenly, a bright flash of light emanates from the car. Your photo has just been taken. The car’s security system has immortalized your curiosity. How do you respond? This guy’s startled reaction was priceless in a Reddit user video shared by Marcus_Padilla1. This might be the last time he thinks he’s being inconspicuous for a while. But, as they say, you aren’t being paranoid if they really are watching you. This is a feature of Tesla’s Sentry Mode. The company’s Website explains that the feature “allows you to monitor suspicious activities around your Tesla when it’s parked and locked in specified locations. When suspicious motion is detected, your car will react depending on the severity of the threat.” A few specific features will be set into motion, the company explains. “If a significant threat is detected, the cameras on your car will begin recording, and the alarm system will activate. You will receive an alert from your Tesla app notifying you that an incident has occurred.” When returning to the car, the company advises, “Remotely view your car’s surroundings when it’s parked to confirm the safety of the environment before you return to your car. You can also honk, flash and talk through the car’s speaker.” Tesla is sure to note that it is the owner’s responsibility to comply with local regulations regarding the use of cameras.
